Millions of people choose to visit the city of Austin, Texas each year and as more arrive, there just seems to be more for them to do and see. But, all of the events and attractions in the city are not just here for those passing through the city. If you've recently relocated to the area or want to rediscover the city you've lived in for years, you should check out all of the entertainment options available. You could spend a relaxing afternoon at a faux finish workshop hosted by one of the area's galleries or take your kids on a day's adventure to one of the city's many parks. Here is a list of a few of the most popular attractions in Austin.
For those interested in the arts and culture scene in Austin, there are lots of venues and events to choose from. There is a local symphony and ballet and many museums and galleries devoted to local and international artists. Austin is also known by many as the "Live Music Capital of the World." If you're vacation includes something a little more exciting than a trip to a day spa San Antonio based, than you can usually find a concert going on in the city on any day of the week. Larger music events include the ACL Music Festival and SXSW, along with many others.
If you're ideal day out includes shopping and then a great dinner at one of the city's top restaurants, Austin will never disappoint. The two top shopping districts in the city are South Congress (commonly known as SoCo) and Second Street. These locations are where you will find one-of-a-kind items, instead of the regular fare you see on a women's online clothing store. Then, you need to head out for some of Austin's famous Tex Mex eats, some BBQ, or head to one of the fine dining establishments in the downtown core.
There are also many outdoor options in Austin for those looking for some exercise on their vacation. Instead of spending the day at one of the summer fairs putting your name in for a car raffle you could experience amazing Greenbelt cycling and hiking trails or head out on the water on one of Austin's lakes. Lady Bird Lake is a popular location, as is Barton Creek Greenbelt, which is full of nearly eight miles of trails.
So, for your next vacation or just a day away from it all, forego that Toronto B & B and come out to Austin. You will find some fantastic entertainment options throughout the day and then can experience some of the best hotels in the country to rest your head.
